Combustion (Asta)
Measure a planet’s exact longitudinal separation from the Sun before applying a named orb profile.
Combustion is an angular condition near the Sun. The app measures the shortest longitude separation, which is unaffected by using tropical versus sidereal longitude because the same ayanamsha shift applies to both bodies.
The default common-orb profile uses Mars 17°, Mercury 14° (12° retrograde), Jupiter 11°, Venus 10° (8° retrograde), Saturn 15°, and optionally Moon 12°.
Authorities differ, especially in how to treat the Moon and exact orbs. Therefore the app names its profile and shows the actual separation instead of hiding the convention.
For every graha, separate three layers: its natural significations, the houses it rules for this Lagna, and its actual placement/condition. Most beginner contradictions disappear when these three layers are written separately.
A planet should therefore be read as a chain rather than a label: rulership → placement → dignity/dispositor → conjunctions/aspects → relevant Varga → timing. The Strength Lab lets you inspect these pieces instead of guessing them.

- Find the planet in D1.
- Write the houses it rules for the current Lagna.
- Check Rashi, house and dignity.
- Check dispositor, conjunctions and aspects.
- Only then add D9/other Varga and Dasha/Transit context.
